What You Can Expect:
You will be treated with respect in a safe and nurturing environment.
You will be given an ethical and professional massage.
Your first appointment will be 15 minutes longer than the scheduled table time, in order to complete a thorough medical history. You will not be charged for this time.
If you have any serious health problems, you may need approval from your healthcare professional.
You will undress and dress in private, and are draped at all times. Only the area of the body being worked is uncovered.
Suggestions for exercises and stretches may be recommended as self-treatment at home.
You may choose to have a full-body massage or a focused massage for specific parts of the body (such as neck, shoulders and back).
Cancellation Policy:
You will be charged for any cancellation made within 24 hours of your scheduled appointment. The charge for late cancellation can be waived if your original appointment can be re-scheduled to another day in the same week. Exceptions may be made for extraordinary circumstances.
Due to the nature of my work, it is essential that both my clients and I are healthy during a massage session. If you are feeling ill on the day of your appointment, please notify me as soon as you can. We can decide together, depending on your symptoms, if you should keep your appointment. If you have to cancel your appointment due to illness, no cancellation fee will be charged.
Confidentiality:
All client information is kept strictly confidential. I will not release that information to anyone, under any circumstances, unless I first obtain your express written permission or am subpoenaed by a court of law.
Respect/Safety/Scope of practice:
I keep accurate records and review charts before each session
I respect all clients regardless of their age, gender, race, national origin, sexual orientation, religion, socio-economic status, body type, political affiliation, state of health or personal habits.
If a client is dissatisfied with a treatment, and no other arrangement can be agreed upon, a 50% refund of the treatment is honored.
Massage therapy is not a replacement for medical care and no diagnosis will be made.
In the event that the client's needs exceed my scope of practice, I will happily refer the client to a better suited professional.
Etiquette:
When scheduling appointments, I do my best to allow for a 10-minute grace period. If a client arrives more than 10 minutes late, I will do my utmost to provide a complete massage in the time remaining. Full payment for the entire scheduled session will be expected.
To quote my friend and colleague, Jeanne Mitchell, please come to your session with a clean body and an open mind. During warm months and sandal season, cloths will be available to clean your feet.
Because massage increases circulation in your system, please do not smoke or drink alcoholic beverages before your session. If you arrive intoxicated I reserve the right to cancel your appointment and collect for its full value.
It is my policy not to initiate conversation during your session. Your session is for your relaxation, and I will create a quiet environment to support that goal.
In ethical massage, sexual behavior or harassment is not tolerated, and if the practitioner's safety feels compromised the session will be stopped immediately and charged in full.
Genitals are never exposed or massaged.
Financial fee structure:
All current fees are posted in my office, in my brochure and on my website.
Rate changes are announced at least one month in advance, and will be posted in my office and on my website. Rates will not be changed without notification for already-scheduled appointments.
Payment is expected at the time service is rendered.
I do not offer insurance billing or reimbursement. I will provide you with a receipt to assist you in obtaining your own reimbursement from your insurance company.
In the case of a bounced check, I will notify you immediately. In addition to covering the amount of the check, I will ask you to pay any bank charges incurred to my account. If this situation arises more than once, I will ask that you make payments with either cash or a cashier's check.
